Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how GetBago ("GetBago", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use the GetBago website, mobile apps, and related services (the "Platform"), whether you're a Customer or a Professional.
Draft content for launch — replace the bracketed placeholders (registered office address, CIN, Grievance Officer name) with your company's actual details and have this reviewed by legal counsel before publishing.
1. Introduction
We process personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and other applicable Indian data protection law. By using the Platform, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: name, phone number, email address, password, profile photo.
- Booking information: service address, booking history, service preferences, special instructions.
- Location data: your device's precise or approximate location, with your permission, to show nearby Professionals, estimate arrival times, and enable live tracking.
- Payment information: UPI ID, masked card details, and transaction history, processed through our RBI-authorised payment partners — we do not store your full card number or CVV.
- Professional verification data (Professionals only): government ID proof, address proof, police verification/background-check results, bank account details for payouts, and skill certifications.
- Communications: messages with Professionals or support, and chat transcripts kept for quality and safety purposes.
- Device & usage data: IP address, device identifiers, app version, OS, crash logs, and how you interact with the Platform, collected via cookies and SDKs.
- Ratings, reviews, and feedback you submit.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you (e.g. when you register, book a service, or contact support), automatically through your use of the Platform (e.g. app analytics, cookies, location services), and from third parties (e.g. background-verification agencies, payment partners, and, if you sign in with Google/Apple, basic profile details from that provider).
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- Match you with available, verified Professionals and facilitate Bookings.
- Process payments, refunds, and payouts.
- Provide customer support and respond to complaints or safety reports.
- Send booking confirmations and service updates, and — with your consent — promotional communications you can opt out of at any time.
- Verify Professional identity, conduct background checks, and maintain trust & safety on the Platform.
- Improve the Platform through analytics, debug issues, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and law-enforcement obligations.
5. Legal Basis & Consent
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent (for example, when you create an account or grant location/notification permissions), and where necessary to perform our contract with you (fulfilling a Booking), comply with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Platform, consistent with the DPDP Act. You may withdraw consent at any time as described in “Your Rights” below, though this may limit certain features — for example, we can't show nearby Professionals without location access.
8. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and restricted internal access — designed to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we encourage you to also protect your account with a strong, unique password.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide the Platform, comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations (typically up to 7 years for transaction records), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Professional verification records are retained for the period required by applicable background-check and consumer-protection regulations. When no longer required, data is deleted or anonymized.
10. Your Rights
Subject to the DPDP Act and applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Request erasure of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent, at any time.
- Nominate another individual to exercise your rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.
- Raise a grievance with our Data Protection contact below, and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@getbago.com from your registered email address. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
11. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
12. Location Data
We use precise location data (with your permission) to show relevant Professionals, calculate service availability and ETAs, and enable live tracking of a Professional en route. You can disable location permissions in your device settings at any time, though this will limit core booking features.
13. Professional Verification Data
If you register as a Professional, we collect additional data — including government ID, address proof, police verification/background-check results, and bank details for payouts — solely to verify your identity, assess eligibility to join the Platform, ensure Customer safety, and process your payments. This data is stored securely and shared only with the verification vendors and payment partners necessary to complete these processes, and is not shown to Customers beyond your verification badge and public profile.
14. International Data Transfers
Our data is primarily stored and processed on servers located in India. Where we use service providers that process data outside India (for example, certain cloud infrastructure or analytics providers), we take reasonable steps to ensure they provide an adequate level of protection consistent with the DPDP Act.
15. Third-Party Links
The Platform may link to third-party websites or services (e.g. payment gateways, maps). This Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes via the Platform or email, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version.
17. Grievance Officer
